2022 DSSC West Coast Review

May18-19, 2022
Carnegie Mellon University, Silicon Valley
NASA Ames Research Park Bldg. 23, Moffet Field, CA 94035

DSSC Review Structure

On Day 1 of the review, DSSC will present recent progress on HDD Technology (Day 1, Morning) and Nonvolatile Memory Technology (Day 1, Afternoon). Our presentation on HDD research on Wednesday AM will feature work on HAMR heads, media, and systems. Our presentations on Non-volatile Memory Systems on Wednesday afternoon will feature work on MRAM and RRAM and associated systems, with a particular emphasis on processing in memory.

On Day 2, we will convene a half-day series of talks from CMU and our Sponosor Companies reviewing the current outlook and challenges for Energy Assisted Recording (both HAMR and MAMR). The goal of this activity is to identify the main barriers between the current state of development and the commercial deployment of these technologies as a motivation for DSSC research. Talks and discussion will extend through the morning and lunch will provided to allow for wrap-up discussions.
