INSIC's EHDR program is the consortium's collaborative research effort aimed at developing the underlying science and technology to allow the demonstration of stable hard disk magnetic recording at areal densities of 4 terabits per square inch by early 2013 and 10 terabits per square inch by the end of 2015. The program is sponsored and funded by companies in the HDD industry and supports research activities at major universities around the world.
